This seminar will be an overview of Natural Swimming Pools/Ponds (NSPs), how they are designed, how they work, and the important role of swimming pool and landscape industry professionals in the design, planning, and construction of NSPs across North America.

With special guest lecturer Anthony Archer-Wills, award-winning author of The Water Gardener, and star of Animal Planet’s The Pool Master!

Learn how to design NSPs and take your design skills to a new level. World-renowned water feature artisan Anthony Archer-Wills has been designing and building NSPs for over 50 years and has worked on projects around the globe. Anthony will show design details and project elements that will inspire you to create more wonderful pool and landscape designs for your clients!

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the fundamental limnology of Natural Swimming Pools (NSPs).
  • Discuss the working vocabulary for NSPs and understand the interrelationship of their systems.
  • Define the microbiological standards to which NSPs are held by regulatory agencies.
This seminar begins by describing the science and engineering behind the NSPs ability to produce clarified and purified bathing water. The microbiological standards used to measure the water quality are discussed and real life examples of actual laboratory test results from operating Public NSPs are presented. The introduction of the NSP to North America from its origination in Europe is addressed with an update on the current status of both residential and Public NSPs in the U.S. and Canada.
