You’ve got the two-story, Victorian home with the white picket fence and acres and acres of flowing land, but you’re missing one thing – a pool. A pool looks great, gives you a place to relax, and can even raise your home value. But, pools are a lot of work to maintain. You have to make sure that they are cleaned regularly from falling debris and dirt, you have to keep the pH just right using special chemicals, and you have to spend a lot on filtration systems. But what if you could have the beauty and functionality of a pool without the maintenance and chemicals?
You can if you choose an environmentally friendly, natural pool.
What Is A Natural Pool?
A natural pool, or a water garden, is a pool that uses natural elements such as plants, dirt, and gravel to filter out all the impurities. There are two sections to a natural pool:
The main pool is the deepest of the two pools. This is usually built using cement or a liner of some type. The filtered pool is not nearly as deep and is filled with water plants such as cattails and water lilies. A water pump moves water from the main pool to the filtration pool.
Natural Pools Are Great Water Features
If you are trying to add water features to your yard, a natural pool is a great place to start. A lot of landscapers will start with a natural pool (a.k.a. water garden) and then build out from there with other water features such as fountains, rock falls, etc. Due to the natural pool filtration system, the maintenance is almost zero.
But beyond looking pretty, there are also many environmental benefits to installing a natural pool.
Environmental Benefits Of Building A Natural Pool
For many, the idea of a natural pool isn’t even on their radar. All they know and understand is a traditional pool. But, equipped with the knowledge of a natural water pool, and the environmental benefits, what’s keeping you from making the plunge into a natural pool?
